General Anaesthesia

General Anaesthesia is a process whereby the patient is forced into a totally unconscious state. This is always very safely performed in a hospital/private clinic environment, together witha qualified, experienced anaesthetist, and mostly resorted when all other methods fail.

Unco-operative patients, especially young children may benefit when lots of dental work is required urgently.  This is performed together with a paediatric anaesthetist. Both restorations on deciduous and adult teeth, together with multiple extractions can be all performed in one quick session, hence saving time, child and parent anxiety as well as repeated visit to the clinic.

Sedation

Sedation is a process used to establish a relaxed, easy and co-operative state amongst very anxious dental phobic patients. It is solely performed on adults in the dental clinic, together with a qualified , experienced anaesthetist.

The patient sits comfortably on the dental chair as the sedative is administered orally and/or intravenously, allowing the dentist to start to work within a few minutes. It's a time-saving procedure as all needed dental treatment is advised to be completed in one session, this including any restorative, cosmetic or surgical procedures.

Once over, the patient has little or no memory of the treatment performed and is able to return back home immediately, as long as accompanied by a guardian/driver.
